This underrated Call of Duty Zombies alternative just released free new DLC you can claim now

2024 horror horde shooter Sker Ritual has just received a new free DLC you can claim now.

The Sker series has tiptoed between different genres over the last ten years, with the latest entry taking on the form of a horde shooter you can play with your friends.

Released to mixed reception, fans have generally come to appreciate the game's post-launch updates even if it's still not perfect.

Sker Ritual - Shrunken Head DLC adds a few bonus freebies to the game that players can pick up. While the DLC isn't too substantial, it's a little extra for the players who are still actively playing two years on from release.

The pack includes four new items you can access in-game, including a Shrunken Head mask to wear, as well as a premium animated menu background that depicts the Shrunken Head Shack.

Access to the DLC also grants you the Cursed Tongue, which allows you to use an "in-game voice line to strike fear in friend or foe," and an exclusive Shrunken Head Emblem which you can display on your player profile.

Sker Ritual received positive reviews at launch, but has been hit with negative reviews lately

Sker Ritual was originally released in April 2024, and has an overall review rating of 83% based on nearly 5,000 reviews.

However, fans have recently given the game a negative score, with recent reviews for the game sitting at 35% positive ratings.

"Budget COD zombies. Set in its own universe with 6 solid maps. Must play for zombies fans," reads one positive review for the game.

"Imagine if treyarch were allowed to make their own standalone zombies game," another positive review reads.

However, some players are unhappy with the game, with a recent influx of negative reviews putting Sker Ritual down claiming it to be a broken, buggy mess.

"I played with a couple friends for my 2.1 hours. We did like the changing missions throughout each level. But, I don't know if it was input delay or indie jank but combat felt sluggish and not-fun. Make combat feel fun and people might stick around," reads a negative review.

"One of those games that's quite hard to figure out exactly why it just feels mid," another review reads with a negative score.

For those who've hungered for the classic Call of Duty Zombies experience, we'd recommend Sker Ritual as a decent, smaller budget replacement for that. You're not getting the same level of polish or depth, but even with some of the criticisms people have, it remains a pretty solid alternative.
