Stardew Valley-Style Dark Fantasy RPG Delays Early Access to 2027

Cygnus Cross, the developer of the upcoming pixel action RPG Emberville, frequently described as "Stardew Valley meets Diablo," has delayed the game's Early Access release to January 7, 2027.

Emberville was originally set to launch in Early Access on October 27. The developers shared on Steam that they made the call after "extensive discussions," and thanked the players for understanding and patience.

They need extra time to include the changes and enhancements to make the game "the best it can be"; for example, reworking bow combat would take more time than they had. The January release is meant to define the game's core mechanics and show where it is headed through Early Access.

Emberville combines Stardew Valley's pixel art style with dark-fantasy elements and is set in the vast, magical underground world of Vitromotus, which players must escape. The game features action-focused combat rewarding positioning and timing with weapon-bound combos, exploration, uncovering the locals' stories, and making choices.

The pixel RPG has a star-studded voice cast, featuring Matthew Mercer (Critical Role, Baldur's Gate 3, Overwatch), Jennifer English (Baldur's Gate 3, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), Ben Starr (Final Fantasy XVI, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), Nick Apostolides (Resident Evil 2 and 4, Dead Space), Elias Toufexis (Deus Ex, Starfield), and many other popular voice actors.
