Pokémon Winds & Waves leak reportedly reveals first look at huge Gen 10 new map

Following a new leak, one gamer has put together a huge map for Pokémon Winds and Waves that’s set to be released in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2. If this huge map leak is accurate, it could prove the massive technical leap that's in store for Gen 10.

Pokémon Winds and Waves was revealed in February 2026, but we’ve not learned a great deal about the upcoming game since then. Sure, we’ve seen some gameplay, including its three starter Pokémon, Browt, Pombon and Gecqua, as well as exploration across land and sea.

However, we still don’t know details such as the name of the new 10th generation region. That hasn’t stopped one passionate gamer from putting together an impressive concept map, based on leaked images, giving us our best look at the unannounced region so far.

Fan-made Pokémon Winds & Waves map gives us a glimpse at Gen 10

The fan-made mapping project has been created by X user TM02, and it’s been put together using a combination of officially released Nintendo details and leaked materials.

Of course, it’s worth keeping in mind that this fan-made map for Pokémon Winds and Waves could be inaccurate, but assuming the amount of work and research that must have been done to put it all together, hopefully, there’s plenty of truth in this early look.

The fan-made map features plenty of open sea to explore and several massive islands that include mountains, beaches, forests and perhaps even a volcano, by the looks of it.

“I see some ruins; I wonder if it will be like a dungeon,” replied skeletonsec94.

“I'm expecting a lot of returning Rock, Ground, Steel, and Ice-type Pokémon will be in this game due to the vast swaths of desert and icy mountains we see on this map,” said KelseyKartooner.

What’s more, given that Pokémon Winds and Waves has been optimised exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2, it could not only be the best-looking and technically advanced game in the series, but its open world could be the biggest. Only time will tell.

Pokémon Winds & Waves: What we know about Gen 10 so far

We know that once more, it will be developed by series veterans Game Freak. Its world is made up of windswept islands. Gen 10 will have a new battle system, although many of those details have been kept under wraps. 2025’s Pokémon Legends: Z-A had a real-time battle system, so perhaps Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will follow its lead but that remains unconfirmed.

The game will also feature two new special Pikachus inspired by Hawaii, namely Mr Windychu and Ms Wavychu. In terms of its new starter Pokémon, Browt is a grass-type, Pombon is a fire-type, and finally, Gecqua is a water-type.

While Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves lack a confirmed release date, an update will likely arrive on Pokémon Day in February 2027. Sadly, Gen 10 will not be released on the original Switch console.
