One-Click Stylized 3D Perspective Tool For Blender

Create Perfect Anime Faces At Extreme Angles With This Blender Tool
A new release from DillonGoo Studios.
DillonGoo Studios, an animation studio known for its Goo Engine and contributions to Blender's NPR features, has released a new tool designed for artists interested in anime-style 3D art, which achieves the same effect as the viral 3D character that was hilariously flattened. Flattice flattens geometry relative to the camera, making the deformation invisible while minimizing perspective distortion. The effect mimics a longer focal length, creating a cleaner look for anime-style characters, especially when viewed from extreme angles.
With a single click, Flattice generates a lattice that flattens a specific part of a character's model, whether it's the face, chest, or entire body, and targets the camera to fake an orthographic view. It also automatically creates a vertex group that weight paints the selected mesh based on the 3D cursor's position. Simply place the 3D cursor where you want the flattening effect to occur and click Add Flattice. The tool handles the rest, generating the lattice, creating camera-targeting drivers, and automatically parenting everything to the rig. Once generated, you can adjust the parameters to fine-tune the effect and achieve the perfect perspective for each shot.
The developers note that Flattice was originally developed before Geometry Nodes gained many of its current features, and back then, creating an add-on was a much simpler way to set everything up. However, you can now achieve the same effect entirely with Geometry Nodes, Flattice is simply a ready-to-use solution and a great way to support the studio.
Flattice works with Blender versions 3.6 to 5.1 and Goo Engine versions 3.6 to 4.4. Grab it here and check out Goo Physics, the studio's custom-built physics solution for Blender, allowing you to simulate hair, cloth, and more:
