Fallout: New Vegas free add-on expands cut questline that'll improve your next playthrough
Fallout: New Vegas players can enjoy several brand-new quests courtesy of this mod that restores cut Bethesda content from the beloved RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment.
When it comes to popular RPGs, especially of the post-apocalyptic nature, it doesn't get much more popular than 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas which, remarkably, initially started as an expansion to Fallout 3 before it evolved into its own standalone game, which certainly worked out for the best.
Nearly three decades have passed since the original launch of Fallout: New Vegas, and with the confirmed official remaster on the way, along with Fallout 3, there’s going to be even more love for the post-apocalyptic RPG for many more years to come.
Fallout: New Vegas mod brings cut Powder Ganger quests back to life
‘Powder Ganger Odd Jobs Restoration’ is a DLC mod created by Devwood that you might want to sample in the meantime, and it’s available to download for free right now via NexusMods.
This Fallout: New Vegas mod restores three unmarked quests for the Powder Gangers in the NCRCF (New California Republic Correctional Facility). Not only that, but it also adds new lines of dialogue, new lore, and more.
The three new quests are:
- Hannigan: Obtain a book of medicine.
- Dawes: Repair the NCRCF generator.
- Carter: Lockpick a safe in Cell Block B.
“The Powder Gangers are a faction that I never help in New Vegas, because they are a ‘bad guy’ faction and I side with the NCR in my normal playthrough,” explains Devwood.
“Despite this, I wanted to restore content to the Powder Gangers, which adds a little more depth to a playthrough in which you do support them. It also adds more impact if/when you do siege the NCRCF, because you are losing out on even more quest opportunities.”

Is this Fallout: New Vegas mod available on consoles?
Sadly, not. Unlike Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas does not support mods on consoles. This is because Fallout: New Vegas long predates mods coming to the likes of Xbox and PlayStation, so this is very much a PC exclusive.
That being said, it would be awesome if the upcoming remasters of Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 3 do get console mod support. Only time will tell.
What’s the story of Fallout: New Vegas?
“Feel the Heat in New Vegas! Not even nuclear fallout could slow the hustle of Sin City. Explore the vast expanses of the desert wastelands – from the small towns dotting the Mojave Wasteland to the bright lights of the New Vegas strip. See the Great Southwest as could only be imagined in Fallout,” reads the synopsis of the game.
While Fallout: New Vegas is available on PC and old-gen consoles, it is backwards compatible on modern Xbox consoles and is even included with an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
