Megan Fox Reportedly Returning To Revive Cult Classic Horror Movie
Megan Fox is back for more bloodshed.
Fox has had a versatile career both in television and Hollywood movies, becoming a pop-culture icon. She made her acting debut in 2001 but really became known worldwide after her appearance as Mikaela Banes in Michael Bay's 2007 blockbuster hit Transformers. She also returned for its sequel in 2009. The actress has since appeared in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboots, New Girl, and more.
Dread Central has reported that Fox will be returning to the iconic horror movie Jennifer's Body in a long-sought-after sequel, with Karyn Kusama returning to direct from Diablo Cody's screenplay. However, Fox's on-screen rival Amanda Seyfried has yet to confirm if she will be returning, but the source has stated that she's expected to, after the actress previously stated her desire to return as Needy.
It was first reported in 2025 that Kusama wanted to make a sequel to the cult classic, as Cody had a "fun and crazy" idea for a follow-up to the 2009 horror. Kusama stated that Cody is "working on it right now, and I’m very excited to hear what comes of it. I know some of the bones of it, so I’m not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely incredible with it."
Kusama hasn't directed a film in over seven years, but has been serving as an executive producer on the hit series Yellowjackets, but reports are suggesting that filming for Jennifer's Body 2 will begin in October this year in Vancouver, Canada. The official announcement has yet to be revealed by Fox and the team, but as previously stated, Seyfried confirmed that "we're making another one," but wouldn't sign up if Fox didn't return.
Since it looks like Fox is returning, it wouldn't be surprising to see Seyfried also reprise her role. However, the ending of Jennifer's Body is a major gamechanger due to Jennifer (played by Fox) facing a gruesome conclusion to her story and Needy (played by Seyfried) in a distressing state following the horrific chain of events shown throughout the cult classic horror.
The 2009 movie Jennifer's Body had an incredibly small reception upon its release and grossed $31.6 million on a reported $16 million production budget. However, it has since risen from a lackluster opening to a celebrated feminist cult classic with major appreciation on social media and huge success on streaming platforms.
At the time of writing, no official confirmation has been made for Jennifer's Body 2, including a potential release date.
