Cyberpunk 2077 quietly confirms 'absolutely goated' bonus feature for Xbox users

CD Projekt Red has now added a new feature for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox which fans are loving.

Almost six years old, Cyberpunk 2077 has had patch after patch to improve on the game that was originally launched in a rough state.

The latest update, which is labelled Patch 2.5, adds a load of new in-game content for players to use during their Night City adventures.

But for Xbox players specifically, CD Projekt Red has also enabled Xbox Play Anywhere for Cyberpunk 2077, a feature which players are calling "absolutely goated".

Xbox Play Anywhere is a feature for some games on Xbox and PC which allow players to play it on either platform at no additional cost.

If you own a Play Anywhere-enabled game on Xbox or PC via the Xbox app, then you're able to play it on both platforms and able to take advantage of having both available to you.

This is especially useful if you own a handheld device such as the Steam Deck or ROG Xbox Ally, as you can pick up the game you've been playing on console over on these handhelds if you want to take your game into another room.

This can also be used with the recently launched Disc to Digital program added onto Xbox Series X and Xbox One consoles. If you own a disc version of a game that supports Disc to Digital and Play Anywhere, you'll be able to get the digital PC version for free.

And since Play Anywhere also supports cross-save, this also means you're able to not lose any progress when switching devices.

Cyberpunk 2077 joins Xbox Play Anywhere along with thousands of other Xbox games

Over 1,000 games from the Xbox library currently support Play Anywhere, ranging from first-party titles like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Gears of War Reloaded, to indie titles like Valor Mortis and Outbound.

"That $10 Best Buy steelbook after the failed launch continues to provide," reads one comment on Reddit regarding the new announcement.

"Folk should a take a moment to recognise XBOX is just a winning platform for players," another comment reads. "Today, for no reason at all other than choosing the right platform, folks who already own Cyberpunk 2077 on an XBOX, can now play that same game on a PC, and share the same cloud saves between them. And folk didn't need to buy another copy or an upgrade to achieve that, XBOX just handed it out free of charge. Frankly, that's awesome."

"YOOOO Awesome! Was just wanting to play this on PC and I only have it digital on xbox. Play Anywhere is absolutely GOATED!" a third comment reads.

Update 2.5 for Cyberpunk 2077 releases today, which ties into the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 which also came out this week. It adds dual-wielding weapons, as well as three new side quests which tie into the show.
