Cyberpunk 2 official dev update is the best news possible after Update 2.5 success

Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 has been another colossal success for CD Projekt Red, and the future is already looking bright for Cyberpunk 2.

The recent update for Cyberpunk 2077 came as a surprise to just about everyone as it added heaps of content based on the ever-popular Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime.

It also added some new gear themed after The Witcher series, and the most-impressive addition of all; full-fledged mod support like what’s found in The Witcher III: Wild Hunt.

Mods officially endorsed and supported by CD Projekt Red have made an already great game even better, and fans will be glad to hear the community has had a knock-on effect for Cyberpunk 2.

According to a new article from VGC, Cyberpunk 2’s Associate Director Paweł Sasko has shared some insight on what the dev team looks like for the next Cyberpunk game.

Sasko spoke about some of the awesome mods being created for the game, and how they’re the best way to “keep your experience fresh” while playing.

Apparently CD Projekt Red has been more than impressed with the quality too. Sasko said “I would say at this point, I think half of the quest team is all former modders. They were all modders before, on the Witcher 3, Witcher 2, you know, and we hired them and they’re part of our company.

“It’s a wonderful way to actually start your career and really learn and see how to actually build those things. So, that’s just another thing that really excites me, that we can kind of keep pushing this thing and make it more available for more players.”

Modders working on Cyberpunk 2 means we’ll finally features we’ve been begging for

Aside from it being really lovely, CD Projekt Red building a new team of ex-modders puts the next Cyberpunk game in good stead.

When Cyberpunk 2077 launched it was missing dozens of features that fans were hoping to see. While some of those features eventually made their way into the game through post-launch support, many still never made the cut. Flying cars for instance are visible in Night City, but you can’t drive them without a mod.

That’s the point. Modders do what developers can’t. CD Projekt Red could have easily made the mods you see nowadays actual features in the game, but if they were never part of the early planning phases or something feasible during development they’ll never be added.

Some features might have never been thought of either. As Sasko points out in the interview, modders are players. They play the game, think of a cool idea and make it happen with a mod.

The team CD Projekt Red has formed for Cyberpunk 2 is made up of gamers who know what other games want to see, which makes the next Cyberpunk game so much more exciting to think about.

Of course it’s going to be a long, long time until we actually get to see it. If you’re keen to learn more about Cyberpunk 2 we’ve put together a comprehensive ‘Everything we know’ guide you can find below.
