LAUFEN unveils VITREON steel for contemporary washbasin designs
VITREON STEEL EXPANDS LAUFEN’S ARCHITECTURAL UNIVERSE
LAUFEN introduces VITREON steel, a new material that redefines the architectural possibilities of contemporary bathroom spaces. By uniting the strength and malleability of steel with the temper, chemical resistance, and non-porous gloss of glass, the material establishes a versatile new baseline for premium washbasins. The result is extraordinarily durable, scratch-resistant, color-fast, and fully protected against corrosion while maintaining a high standard of hygiene. Beyond its physical performance, VITREON steel enables refined geometries, paper-thin wall profiles, and a tactile finish that engages directly with light.

SWISS PRECISION MEETS MATERIAL EXPERIMENTATION
Drawing on more than 130 years of Swiss engineering and ceramic manufacturing expertise, LAUFEN continuously advances bathroom design through rigorous material research and technical precision. The introduction of glazed steel reflects a philosophy where utility and emotional resonance co-exist. Rather than treating the washbasin as a purely functional fixture, LAUFEN approaches the wash area as a sculptural centerpiece, balancing automated production with refined enameling techniques to give each piece an expressive identity tailored to modern interiors.

EXPLORING GEOMETRY, TACTILE FINISHES, AND DYNAMIC LIGHT
The material’s adaptability comes to life through a series of distinct design explorations. Tricolor transforms surface transitions into a visual statement by pairing contrasting matt and glossy zones across deep hues of Tuscany, Petrol, and Olive. Characters relies on a specialized enameling process to generate visual depth, offering light-reactive shades such as indigo, ocean blue, and earthy matt tones alongside timeless basics like Dark Iron, matt black, and white.
Form and movement take priority in the Tendo, Nib, and In&Out lines. Tendo features an ergonomically inclined basin that guides water in a gentle flow, adding a subtle shadow line to the wash area. Nib presents a minimal, graphic silhouette with floating, ultra-thin walls that reduce visual weight to a bare minimum. Meanwhile, In&Out emphasizes pure lines engineered to blend into both private residences and high-end wellness or contract spaces. Expanding the material narrative further, the Rivo collection shifts to brushed stainless steel, using ultra-slim profiles and metallic finishes in brass, titanium, and copper to capture ambient light.
